I feel an aching longing
When I hear the ocean
I’m never sure what for
Or even why
And yet
My mind seems to recall
Days spent with friends
In frolicking wonder
Warm azure seas
And gentle sun
Blue skies
And dancing palms
The salty water cossets
And surrounds me
As I kick out
Through frothy waves
Horizons beckon
Mesmerizing
And awesome
Full of the peace
And freedom
That I seem crave
Leaps like a dolphin
I feel I’m not alone
I look around me
And behold
My friends are here
And joyfully together
The seas we roam
Perhaps I was once a dolphin
Or a tadpole
Swimming in a pool
Perhaps I just remember
Growing
Inside my mothers womb
